Description
Description
Our goal is to provide volunteer support for our local health departments. Most of our work so far has been with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health, predominantly "contact tracing" for suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases, although we have branched into "case investigation" and "monitoring" roles as well. We only recently connected with the St. Louis City Department of Public Health and are actively recruiting. We have 60 student volunteers (and counting), 40 of whom are M3s enrolled in a new community service elective with a 20-30 hours/week commitment. The project began with only medical students, but we are now recruiting other health professional students as the case load increases. Our guiding faculty are Dr. Steve Lawrence (a dean for clinical sciences, and epidemiologist who is overseeing all student response efforts) and Dr. Will Ross (a dean for diversity, who has experience working with health departments).
