Impact of a Resident Quality Council on Annual Resident Quality Improvement Survey Data

Description

A Resident Quality Council (RQC) was established at our institution to help align and integrate clinical quality initiatives with residency curricula. To assess resident advances in QI knowledge, attitudes and practices after implementation of the RQC, an institutional review board (IRB) approved cross-sectional survey focusing on key QI knowledge, attitudes and practices was administered to all residents pre- and one year post- implementation. Results showed all survey items on resident knowledge increased, and there was improvement for all 10 related survey items addressing resident attitudes on QI. Percentages of residents involved in QI practices also increased in all surveyed areas.
