Increase in Appropriate Prescribing of Proton Pump Inhibitors at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center

Description

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are frequently overprescribed in inpatient setting throughout the country. This practice can lead to development of undesirable side effects and unnecessary expense of treating these side effects. A Pharmacy/Medicine team devised an intervention including increasing awareness and educating Attending physicians and house staff which lead to a significant reduction in the inappropriate prescribing of PPIs at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center.
