Low-Resource Integration of Quality and Safety into Residency Training: The Yale Medicine Safety and Quality Elective

Description

To fulfill a need in our Internal Medicine Residency program, a Safety and Quality Elective was created and implemented with no capital outlay, minimal faculty obligation and full integration with nursing and hospital administration. A survey was conducted at the end of the first year with very positive results, including ratings of various curricular components. The elective has become very popular and is highly sustainable.
