Health Promotion Strategies for LGBT Persons with Jennifer Potter

Eckstrand, MD, PhD, Co-Chair of the AAMC Advisory Committee on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Sex Development, interviews Jennifer Potter, MD, Director of the Women's Health Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Director of the Women's Health Program at Fenway Health. In this engaging discussion, Drs. Potter and Eckstrand discuss the disproportionate amount of violence and trauma LGBT people experience over the course of their lives, the value of assessing an LGBT person's resilience to said stressors, the importance of creating a supportive environment, the role of health care providers in promoting resilience amongst their patient population, and LGBT curriculum integration.
