We have developed a framework for postdocs to use in learning about and practicing teaching skills. The full certificate is divided into required instruction in classroom technique, pedagogy, and current litereature (one third); electives in curriculum design, syllabi, active learning, assessments, etc. (one third); and teaching and teaching portfolio (one third). Each component is tracked along with learning objectives and reflection to ensure that the final portfolio and teaching statement are rich and thoughtful.
