During the 2018/2019 academic year, two cohorts of students had the opportunity to outreach to vulnerable population in the rural areas of the Appalachian region of Tennessee and Ashatabula, OH through a collaborative with Remote Area Medical (RAM). RAM follows the mobile health clinic model and travels across the United States and abroad, to serve those most in need of medical, dental, and vision services. Remote Area Medical follows an interdisciplinary approach, providing students robust learning and collaborative opportunities with a myriad of health care professionals and students. Students have had the opportunity to conduct research studies; receive scholarship of service grant awards through Indiana Campus Compact; disseminate their research projects to state legislators; and present their research at both the local and national levels.
