Description
This is a complete curricular guide for an online Internal Medicine course that can be delivered via any learning management system. It was designed to provide an asynchronous virtual learning experience to a large cohort of students with only modest faculty supervision. The 4-week curriculum consists of 3 curricular units posted weekly on various internal medicine topics. Each curricular unit consists of a variety of components: podcasts, articles, discussion prompts, interactive cases, and multiple-choice questions. Students are assessed based on discussion forum participation and answering discussion prompts, multiple-choice questions, prepared presentation, and peer feedback. The course is designed for approximately 35 hours per week of academic effort. This format can be easily adapted to any specialty of medicine.
