The State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP)


The State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP) is an academic enrichment program that is offered on Saturdays to 50 minority and/or economically disadvantaged high school students from the New York City area who show keen interest in careers in medicine and/or the sciences. S-PREP is one of the 60 Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) in New York State. The program offers a schedule of basic and medical science courses. The courses offered may include: biology, biochemistry, calculus, chemistry, genetics, microbiology, neuroscience, physics, physiology, and pre-calculus, and SAT preparation course provided by Kaplan. In addition, several educational activities are conducted during the course of the academic year: seminars college trips and visits to science museums and other educational facilities.
