Integrating Collaborative Population Health Projects into a Medical Student Curriculum at Stanford

Description

This article describes the population health curriculum at the Stanford University School of Medicine from 2003-2007 that includes a required community-based population health project for first-year medical students. Components of the population health curriculum are outlined, and details of the community-based population health projects are provided, including the numbers of students, types of projects, and lessons learned regarding the administration of such projects. This article is included in the April 2008 "Population Health Education" theme issue of Academic Medicine.
