Changing Hospital Policy from the Wards: An Introduction to Health Policy Education

Description

This article describes efforts at the University of New Mexico School of medicine to train family medicine residents and medical students to frame individual patient encounters in the context of community health and policy issues. Resident and medical student teams identified and responded to the policy-related problems raised by patient encounters. The article describes examples of the hospital policy projects and interventions that were implemented by the learners.
